Web hosting in Ghana.

Hosting that’s quick for visitors in Ghana, looked after by people who answer. We can host your site for you, or manage hosting you pay for directly. Either way, we set it up, keep it secure and watch it around the clock.

Why hosting matters in Ghana

Most of your visitors are on a phone, paying for mobile data. Every second the server takes to answer is a second they stare at a blank screen, and many won’t wait.

Most hosting is in Europe or the United States, so every request crosses an ocean and back. We put the sites we host behind Cloudflare, which has a data centre in Accra, so pages can be served from inside Ghana instead.

And cheap shared hosting often means hundreds of sites on one server. When one of them gets busy or hacked, yours slows down or gets flagged along with it.

Two ways to host with us

What’s included, either way

Moving from your current host

We move sites to a written checklist: everything the site depends on is listed first, the new server is built and tested before anything changes, and the old host keeps running until the new one has settled. Visitors shouldn’t notice, and neither should Google.

Energy News Africa moved to a cloud server this way with no downtime. Our checklist for moving hosts has every step.

What it costs

Managing the hosting is part of our monthly care plan, along with updates, backups, monitoring and small fixes. If we host the site too, hosting is billed yearly, from GH₵1,500 (or monthly, from GH₵150), and rises with the size and capacity of your site. The maintenance plan includes the hosting.

What we promise

Questions people ask

Where are the servers?

Wherever suits the site. Most good hosting is in Europe, which is reasonably close to Ghana. With Cloudflare in front, cached pages are served from its data centre in Accra, so visitors in Ghana get them quickly.

Can we use a hosting company in Ghana?

Yes, if it’s reliable. Local hosting can be quick for visitors in Ghana. We check the server’s response time, uptime record and support before recommending it, and we’re happy to look after a site that’s hosted locally.

How much does web hosting cost?

It depends on the site. A small business site runs well on modest hosting, while a busy news site needs a cloud server. If we host it, hosting starts from GH₵1,500 a year, or from GH₵150 a month if you prefer to pay monthly, and rises with the size and capacity of the site. Our maintenance plan at GH₵750 a month includes the hosting. If you pay a hosting company directly, we manage the site from GH₵500 a month. Either way, you get the figure in writing before you commit.

Who owns the site if you host it?

You do. The domain is registered in your business’s name, and the site, its content and its code are yours. If you ever want to move, you get a full copy and we help you move it. If you’d rather hold the hosting account yourself, choose the option where you pay the host and we manage it.

Will moving hosts affect our Google rankings?

Not if the page addresses stay the same and the move is done properly. Google doesn’t mind a site changing servers; it minds pages disappearing. We keep the old host running until the new one has settled.

Can you set up business email too?

Yes. We usually recommend a dedicated email provider such as Google Workspace or Zoho Mail rather than the web server, and we add the DNS records that keep your emails out of spam folders.

What happens if the site goes down?

Monitoring checks the site around the clock, so we usually know before you do. You get a first reply within an hour, 8am to 10pm Ghana time, every day of the week.
